370 tourism-sector workers
trained to spot human trafficking
Following a day of training
to recognize signs of human trafficking and transnational crime, Pattaya’s
best volunteers and police officers were dispatched to scour Pattaya for
transnational crime.

Nearly 400 taxi drivers, rental car agents, restaurant employees and
tourism-sector workers were trained to recognize signs of human trafficking
and transnational crime at a seminar sponsored by the Chonburi Immigration
Office.
Maj. Gen. Kriangsak Arunsrisophon, commander of Immigration Region 3,
presided over the day-long workshop Sept. 5 at the Tropicana Hotel. Speakers
covered immigration department goals, aspects of human trafficking and
transnational crime and crime prevention.
Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome stressed that human trafficking and transnational
crime can impede Thailand’s goal to generate 2 billion baht in tourism
revenue in 2015. He urged those assembled to inform Immigration Police of
suspicious foreigners by calling the department’s 1178 hotline.
Kriangsak said the training was part of Immigration’s six goals of
stability, suppressing bullies, serving visitors, spreading justice,
developing for the for ASEAN Economic Community, elicit cooperation from all
sectors and solve problems through integration.
Following the training, Kriangsak dispatched officers to scour Pattaya for
transnational crime.
