their respects to the “Father of Thai medicine” on HRH Prince Mahidol
Day.

Queen Sirikit Hospital commemorated the “Father of Thai medicine” with a
Prince Mahidol Day celebration in Sattahip.
Hospital Director Rear Adm. Khanin Chumwornthyee presided over the Sept.
24 ceremony at the prince’s monument with medical and government
officers attending.
Ten monks from Ratsamakhee Temple performed religious ceremonies
dedicated to HRH Prince Mahidol along with declaring their loyalty while
attendees placed garlands at the monument.
Prince Mahidol of Songkla was the son of King Chulalongkorn and father
of both HM the King Bhumibol Adulyadej and King Rama VIII.
On the 100th anniversary of his birth in 1991, the late prince was
nominated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Organization as a great personality of the world in the field of
culture. After that, the Thai government designated the date of HRH the
Prince’s death, Sept. 24, as Mahidol Day.
