Chonburi buffalo races set for Oct. 14-20
The end of Buddhist Lent is approaching, and Chonburi
officials have started planning the province’s annual buffalo races that
also signal the official end to the rainy season.
Deputy Gov. Pongsak Preechawit chaired a recent planning meeting to
prepare for the 2013 Buffalo Racing Festival held in concert with
Chonburi City Hall and the Tourism Authority of Thailand. This year’s
races take place Oct. 14-20 on the field in front of city and provincial
government offices.
As usual, races will be complemented with booths selling locally made
items, stage performances, games and beauty contests. There also will be
a “13 kwienkan” cart for offerings to monks, parade and an
amulet-judging contest. (CPRD)
