A transvestite accused of using the Internet to bilk about 50 people
out of 2 million baht was arrested by Pattaya police just minutes before he
nearly escaped to South Korea.
Phech Hotarat, 32, was pulled out of a departure line at Suvarnabhumi
International Airport Dec. 14 and immediately charged with check fraud.
Police allege that the Nong Khai native had set up a website to sell airline
tickets for prices ranging from 5,000-200,000 baht. Not a registered travel
agent, the woman-of-the-second-category was incapable of delivering the
tickets.
About 50 people complained to police and in excess of 20 arrest warrants
were issued for Phech. Police said he admitted he was fleeing the country
when caught.
