Daring “rescue” in Pattaya Bay
Tourist police train volunteers for emergencies


Volunteer “victims” are hoisted to safety from Pattaya Bay.

Seventy tourist assistance volunteers were given classroom, then practical training in rescue operations last week, culminating in a spectacular simulated helicopter rescue off Pattaya Beach.

A large crowd of tourists also gathered to watch rescue personnel from the Police Helicopter Unit lower a harness to “victims” in the water, then hoist them safely aboard the helicopter, “rescuing them from disaster”.
