Dolphin roundabout gets
Thanks to Nic Demet and his sponsors, the dolphin statue at the Naklua roundabout has been restored to pristine condition. The roundabout at the intersection of Pattaya North and 2nd roads, with the playful dolphin statues, is a very well known landmark in Pattaya. Built 12 years ago by the Rotary Club of Pattaya at a cost of over 300,000 baht, it has unfortunately since then had little maintenance as no one has taken on the responsibility of its upkeep. It took a concerned resident of Pattaya, Nic Demet, who is incidentally a member of the Rotary Club of Jomtien-Pattaya, to change all that. On his own, he went to see the Pattaya Rotary Club and Pattaya City officials, requesting that they give him permission to repaint the dolphin statues. Nic felt that this would be a suitable way to honour the King’s 73rd birthday, and at the same time he would do this to help celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Rotary movement in Thailand. With paint donated by Jotun Thailand, Nic and his team of eleven workers began early in the morning with the restoration and repainting job, which they managed to complete within one day. |
