Fastest buffalo in the East

The jockey rides bareback astride the water buffalo’s rump, slaps him with a switch and bumps along on his sprinting steed down a 130-meter (427-foot) strip. That’s if the buffalo cooperates.

Other buffaloes, perhaps happier wallowing around muddy rice fields than stampeding down a race track, kick their hoofs in the dirt at the starting line or buck their riders before they reach the finish.

Pattaya Panthers and the community remember lost friends in the wake of Bali

A somber mood swept over Shenanigans Pattaya last Saturday afternoon as members of the rugby fraternity and the community gathered to mourn the premature death of one of their brethren, Chris Kays. At 2 p.m. there was no band playing or heavy revelry, but instead a clear reminder of the tragedy that has struck so many around the world. This is of course the barbaric and senseless act in Bali one week before.

Seventh Bangkok Book fair graced by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn

HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously presided over the Opening Ceremony of the Seventh Bangkok Book Fair, on October 11 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. HRH the Princess presented plaques and certificates of appreciation to the supporters, organizers and to the winners of the Illustrations for Young Readers and the Fair’s Slogan contests.

The “Over 40s” steal the limelight 7th Tibhar Table Tennis Tournament

 The 7th Tibhar Tournament, held on October 12 and 13 drew competitors from around the country and from various part of the world, but it was the over 40’s that took the limelight in this month’s competition.
