The Pattaya International Hospital and the PIC Group take pride in maintaining international standards of excellence, which includes not only first class health care but also safety for patients and employees.

Using the fire engine from the Disaster Prevention Department in Pattaya City for training.

On November 3 at Pattaya International Hospital on Soi 4, a training class for the employees of the hospital and the P.I.C. Group Company was held according to the “Fire Protection and Prevention training in the enterprises for the year 2004” policy. This training course is held every year to make sure employees are prepared in case of emergencies such as fires or other disasters and are capable of protecting and saving lives.

After a drop from the fourth story, this hospital employee was none the worse for wear and gained invaluable practice in escaping from a burning building.

The course was conducted by fire prevention experts from the Disaster Prevention Department in Pattaya City. There were over 150 employees from the groups in attendance; Pattaya International Hospital, P.I.C. Kitchen, P.I.C. Super Food, The Sugar Hut, The Jazz Pit Pub and the Community Medical Clinic on Soi 5.

Experts began the session by teaching theory in technical fire suppression, moving accident victims and fire prevention.

Attendees then went through a more hands-on session including firefighting techniques, how to handle a fire extinguisher, how to handle stress during fire scenarios, and how to escape from the 4th floor of the hospital building. All 150 employees did well in the training course and the results declared very satisfactory.

Pattaya is a city known for its variety of restaurants and great cuisine. Now gourmets can treat their palates to real Turkish food. The A La Turca Authentic Turkish Cuisine Restaurant just held its grand opening on October 22. This is the first and only authentic Turkish restaurant in the country and the party was held to thank customers and supporters.

Arif Ilgun celebrated his birthday with Serap and friends at the A La Turca Authentic Turkish Cuisine Restaurant. For many, the highlight of the event was the authentic belly dancer.

The party also celebrated the birthday of Arif Ilgun, one of the restaurant’s managers. The evening festivities were boisterous and fun as friends, neighbors and members of the local business community packed the venue to convey best wishes and present bouquets of flowers for good luck. The highlight of the evening was the voluptuous belly dancer who wowed the group with her charms and received lots of tips tucked into her frothy costume amid a thundering roar of applause.

The A La Turca Authentic Turkish Cuisine Restaurant is situated in the Pattaya Market on Pattaya Second Road and is managed by Arif Ilgun and Serap Ilgun. Both are Turkish nationals and love their country’s cuisine. Noting that Thailand had no Turkish restaurants, they decided to open one in Pattaya, where food from all nations is a hallmark of the city. The menu provides a long list of traditional Turkish food, including sumptuous desserts. The restaurant is open from 1:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Nagas Touring Motorcycle Club celebrates 1st anniversary

On Saturday November 6, guys and gals from 12 different motorcycle clubs thundered through a soi in Sriracha astride their Harleys, Hondas, Kawasakis and Suzukis bound for the Beretta Bar. Why? To party for the 1st anniversary of the founding of Nagas Touring Motorcycle Club.

A small army of bikers turned up at the Beretta Bar to help the Nagas Touring Motorcycle Club celebrate their first anniversary.

Guest clubs from as far a field as Bangkok and Pattaya included Bandidos, Bangbung Riders, Black Devils, Broken Bones, Burapa, C.O.B.B., Flying Skull, Immortals, Jesters, Jikko, Little Devils and Southern Bird; some colourful names. Their machines were even more colourful; ranging from standard and modified Harleys through various Honda specials to some very beautifully engineered low rider choppers powered by a variety of Japanese engines. The bike count was 58, and the head count 100 plus.

Nagas is still a small club with 12 members; the emphasis of the club is on touring with partners on the pillion. Full credit must go to club captain, Bert Fagrell and his committee, notably Martin Smith, for superb organization that led to a wonderful party. There was secure, supervised parking for the expensive bikes, free beer jointly sponsored by Heineken and the club (the free beer lasted until 11.30 p.m.) and a free buffet. The Beretta Bar, home of the Nagas, provided the setting and service necessary for the evening to go so well. Compliments to all of the staff who were not expecting the guests to be as numerous as it turned out on the night.

Entertainment was provided by the local group, Bodydark, a trio with an eye candy lady vocalist. Some guests also sang solo with Bodydark and proved to be able entertainers for many of the guests who danced and sang along with the music.

11 mixed nationalities (Thai and “Falang”) enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, the bike scene and a social convivial drink from 7 p.m. until late. Many old friendships were renewed and new friends made. As is the norm for the biking scene, the brotherly / sisterly spirit prevailed and a good time was had by all.
