Clubs & Associations

The next meeting of Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) will be on Sunday, February 22. The club meets every Sunday morning at Henry J. Bean’s Restaurant on the north end of Beach Road in the grounds of the Amari Orchid Resort. The program starts as usual at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9:30 to 11 a.m., everyone welcome. Each week the PCEC has an interesting speaker to talk on various subjects of interest in an informal setting. This week, the speaker will be Thor Halland, who will be speaking about his new role as an editor for Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia. This will be followed by the ever-lively and often humorous Open Forum and an update on the happenings in and around Pattaya. A full report appears each week in Pattaya Mail. For the past 28 years the Samaritans of Thailand have been providing confidential crisis intervention services over the telephone. The English-speaking unit, Samaritans English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community. English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone. The Royal British Legion Thailand is now firmly established at Tropical Bert’s 2nd Road next to Soi 6/1. We are now approaching 70 members, why don’t you become No 70. Served in H.M. Armed Forces? From 5pm to 7pm daily at Manhattans you can select a two-course meal for 795 baht or a three-course meal for 895 baht all-inclusive. No service charge. No tax. Fine dining at Shenanigans: two great Irish Pubs - two great locations in Pattaya & Jomtien. You can enjoy the same weekly specials but on different days. The Jomtien Pub is on the main Thappraya Road just 200 meters from Jomtien and Dongtan Beaches, situated on the ground floor of the Jomtien Condo Complex.

Can you sing? A new chorus group forming in the Pattaya is looking for men and women who love to sing. If you can carry a tune and can read music, it’s a plus, but not a necessity. The group itself will determine the kinds of music we sing, where and when we rehearse and where we’ll perform. We especially need women singers, since we intend this to be a mixed chorus. A BCCT Eastern Seaboard Networking Evening will be held at Shenanigans Irish Pub, The Avenue, Pattaya, on Friday 20th February from 6.30 p.m. Mackenzie Smith Law & Shenanigans Pattaya are sponsoring beverages and finger food on a first-come, first-served basis from 6.30 p.m. All members and guests are welcome. Gallery Opium, in conjunction with Bangkok-based art critic Brian Curtin, presents an exhibition titled New Ecologies. This is the first of what is expected to become an annual exhibition and festival of visual arts and related events in Pattaya. The exhibition, which started on January 29, presents the contemporary works of a wide range of expatriate and local artists over a three-month season at the Sheraton Pattaya Resort. Also at the Gallery Opium is an exhibition by Narong Wannasa titled Inspiration From My Friend’s Spirit. It is the Thai artist’s second solo exhibition and displays Wannasa’s imaginative and shape forming skills.
