The second Pattaya International Bed Race will take place on Sunday,
January 31, with approx. 100 bed racing teams taking part and some 20,000
people expected to attend. In addition to the race there will be a Family
Fair starting at 12 noon with games and lots of fun and after the bed race
there will be a big Rotary New Year Party. The route of the race will start
and end at The Avenue Pattaya shopping mall on Pattaya Second Road. Teams
will turn left into Soi 12, then left into Pattaya Beach Road, then onto
South Pattaya Road, and back into Second Road to the finishing line in front

A Soprano concert featuring beautiful
music, from the classics of Mozart to Gershwin’s Broadway, will be held at
the Grand Ballroom of the Pattaya Marriott Hotel on Tuesday, February
9, starting at 7 p.m. This will be a fund raising event to benefit the
“Spirit to Serve” charity. Tickets to the concert are 490 baht, which
includes a welcome drink served at the Lobby Terrace from 6 p.m. Students
with a valid ID can gain admission for 100 baht. At the close of the
concert an international “cook to order” dinner buffet will be served at the
Marriott Garden Café where concert ticket-holders will enjoy a special 50%
discount.
The North Star Library in
Pattaya will host a special talk by Dr. Giuseppe Mario Saccone, a lecturer
at Asian University, on Thursday, January 28, titled “Human Rights:
reflections on some of the conceptual features of rights.” The talk will
take place in the Meeting Room from 3 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. and admission is free

Clubs and Associations
The next Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) meeting
will be on Sunday, January 24 and everyone is warmly welcome to attend. The
club meets every Sunday morning at Henry J. Bean’s Restaurant on the north
end of Beach Road in the grounds of the Amari Orchid Resort. The program
starts as usual at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9:30 to
11 a.m. Each week the PCEC has an interesting speaker to talk on various
subjects of interest in an informal setting. The speaker for this Sunday
will be Roger Fox talking about some of the special things that have been
done by helicopters. This program will be followed by the ever lively and
often humorous Open Forum where questions are asked and answers given about
living in Pattaya as well as an update on events in and around Pattaya. A

of Thailand have been providing confidential crisis intervention
services over the telephone. The English-speaking unit, Samaritans English
Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the
expatriate community. English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention
will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the
