An exciting new international cricket tournament, the Pattaya International Cricket Sixes 2010, will be staged at Horseshoe Point Resort, Pattaya, from 7 - 10th April 2010. The tournament is part of the international award winning Asian Cricket Sixes Tour (ACST), the leading organizer of superb cricket tournaments across Asia Pacific region which also includes events in Chiang Mai, Phuket, Hong Kong, Shanghai, the Philippines, Singapore and New South Wales, Australia. The Pattaya event is being staged at the newest cricket ground in Thailand, the prestigious and picturesque Horseshoe Point Resort, and is fully supported by the recently formed Pattaya Cricket Club. Sixteen teams, plus supporters, families and officials from Australia, UK, India, Pakistan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, and New Zealand will fly in to compete in this brand new tournament plus teams from Thailand and Pattaya. There will be a BCCT Eastern Seaboard Networking Evening on Friday April 23 from 6.30 p.m. at the Beach Bar & Grill on Beach Road close to Central Road and next to Hard Rock Hotel & Montien Hotel Pattaya. The Beach Bar & Grill is sponsoring finger buffet food & Fluid Asia Pacific is sponsoring beer on a first-come, first-served basis from 6.30 -8.00 p.m. All members and guests are welcome. The next meeting of Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) will be on Sunday, April 4. Everyone is warmly welcome. The Club will be meeting temporarily in the Ruan Suan Room, Garden Wing, Amari Orchid Resort & Tower (entrance is about half way between Dolphin Roundabout and the turn south on to Beach Road) while their regular meeting place is being renovated. The program still starts as usual at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Each week the PCEC usually has an interesting speaker to talk on various subjects of interest in an informal setting. This week’s scheduled speaker will be Peter Marsh from Black Star Jewelry. He will be discussing gems in Thailand. The program is followed by the ever lively and often humorous Open Forum where questions are asked and answers given about living in Pattaya as well as an update on events in and around Pattaya. For the past 28 years the Samaritans of Thailand have been providing confidential crisis intervention services over the telephone. The English-speaking unit, Samaritans English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community. English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone.
