Koh Larn residents fume over bridge to nowhere

Two mayors promised to build it, but two years after construction began the bridge and pier at Koh Larn’s Naban Port remains unfinished. Initiated by former Pattaya Mayor Niran Wattanasartsathorn, the project got off to a proper start, with concrete supports planted in the sea bed. But work stopped when the contractor walked off the job, never to return. During his election campaign, current Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome promised to complete the pier, but nothing was ever done.

We stumbled across Levantini after a friend told us of the wonderful couscous dish he had at this restaurant in The Village. For those who are unsure, The Village is a very different shopping center on the corner of Sukhumvit Road and Soi Chaiyapruek 1. After a period of not really settling down, that has changed, and the future of this center looks very promising, and with different restaurants such as Levantini, will attract new custom.

The first ever Skål Asia Ecotourism Award 2010 has been won by the Chaophya Park Hotel & Resort, Bangkok. The hotel’s general manager, Andrew J. Wood (center) receives the award from Skål Asia President Gerry Perez (left) and Skål Intl VP and Director of Development Tony Boyle (right) at the 39th Skål Asia Congress in Cebu, Philippines May 27-30, 2010. Two other awards were also given during the conference, Skål Asia Club of the Year went to Skål Intl Singapore and the Skål Asia Personality of the Year went to Skålleague Patrick Fiat.
