The 2nd Pattaya International Fireworks Festival & Contest will be held on Saturday, August 14 to mark the auspicious occasion of Her Majesty the Queen’s 78th birthday on August 12. The display and contest will take place close to Soi 4 on Pattaya Beach Road and will be put together by firework specialists from 11 countries. The Pattaya International Ladies Club (PILC) will be holding their annual Holiday Bazaar at the Royal Cliff Beach Resort Pattaya on Saturday, October 2. This event gives PILC members and the public a chance to meet up, either sell or buy an array of goods from silverware, to jewelry, to local handicrafts, to food and wine, and to help the PILC collect money to support the local community. The next meeting of Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) will be on Sunday, August 1. Everyone is warmly welcome. The Club meets every Sunday morning at The Tavern by the Sea (formerly Henry J. Bean’s) located on the north end of Beach Road (part of the Amari Orchid Resort). The program starts as usual at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Each week the PCEC usually has an interesting speaker to talk on various subjects of interest in an informal setting. This program is followed by the ever lively and often humorous Open Forum where questions are asked and answers given about living in Pattaya as well as an update on events in and around Pattaya. For the past 28 years the Samaritans of Thailand have been providing confidential crisis intervention services over the telephone. The English-speaking unit, Samaritans English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community. English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone.
