170,000 baht missing

Boonlua Chatree

A Danish man returned home to Pattaya after eight days at his wife’s Issan home to find their house ransacked and more than 170,000 baht in cash and jewelry stolen.

Steffen Petersen looks in disbelief at his damaged safe.

Steffen Petersen, 64, and wife Orasa Nuansri, 38, called police after they found their Ekmongkol Village home on Soi Chaiyapruek in disarray and a bedroom safe forced open.

Missing was a gold necklace worth 20,000 baht and 27,000 Danish kroner, worth more than 150,000 baht, and other jewelry.

The steel front door had been forced open and police collected fingerprints throughout the ransacked house.
