Events

The Lighthouse Club Pattaya will be holding their latest charity networking event at the Zulu Bar (Ocean View) of the Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort on Friday, 1st April 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.  Admission is THB 300 for all ladies and voucher-members, THB 600 for all non-members. Finger-food buffet and a free-flow of beer and wine sponsored by Heights Holdings will be available as long as stock lasts.  After 8:30 p.m. Deejay Ferris B (UK) will spice-up the evening with some great music; while you can enjoy a special drink-promotion of THB 50 (net) for draft beer and THB 100 (net) for a nice glass of wine! Manchester United legends Bryan Robson and Andrew Cole will host a dinner in Bangkok on 6th April at the Grand Hyatt Erawan.  Join Bryan and Andrew for an evening of charity fundraising and hear them talk about their life in football.  There will be the chance to bid for unique Manchester United signed auction items - shirts, boots, limited edition prints as well as a trip to Old Trafford for the first match of the 2011/12 season courtesy of Turkish Airlines.  Hublot has also donated a limited edition watch, only worn by the players and manager.  The proceeds from the event will go to UNICEF Thailand programmes.  Prices for tickets are as follows: Baht 50,000 (for a table of 10), Baht 5,500 for individuals.  For reservations go to [email protected] or call +852 2575 6995.

Pattaya International Ladies Club will be celebrating the Royal Wedding between HRH Prince William and Kate Middleton in style at the Pullman Pattaya Aisawan Hotel Ballroom, Naklua.  This is an open event for PILC members, their spouses, partners, guests and members of the Pattaya community.  Tickets include welcome drink, canapés, viewing of the Royal Wedding on large screen, dinner buffet, Royal Toast: Date 29 April 2011 (Friday). Time 3 p.m. onwards. Tickets at Baht 800 can be ordered from [email protected] or at any PILC Coffee Morning or Lunch.  Tickets must be pre-ordered and prepaid.  Drinks at PILC prices available at the hotel.  Dress code is smart casual, ladies wear a hat, or British national colours (red, white and blue).  Prizes will be given for best costume and best hat on show.


Clubs and Associations

The next meeting of the Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) will be on Sunday, April 3.  Everyone is warmly welcome.  The Club meets every Sunday morning at the Tavern by the Sea Restaurant located on the north end of Beach Road (part of the Amari Orchid Resort).  The program starts as usual at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9 to 11 a.m.  Each week the PCEC usually has an interesting speaker to talk on various subjects of interest in an informal setting.  The program is followed by the ever lively and often humorous Open Forum where questions are asked and answers given about living in Pattaya as well as an update on events in and around Pattaya.  A full report appears each week in Pattaya Mail.  For more information about the Sunday meeting and the numerous other weekday activities of the PCEC, see the Club’s website at www. pattayacityexpatsclub.com and learn more about the many and varied activities of the Club.

For the past 28 years the Samaritans of Thailand have been providing confidential crisis intervention services over the telephone.  The English-speaking unit, Samaritans English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community.  English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone.  All calls will be handled on an anonymous basis and are free of charge.  Please call (02) 713-6791 (24hrs a day, 7 days a week).

Fred J. The After Work Club, Sunday through Thursday, 7 p.m. to midnight, offers guests a Western or Thai evening menu.  Groups of 30 people may choose from the European and Thai all you can eat buffet (booking 1 day in advance).  The all you can drink (wine, beer, juice, soft drinks, whiskey, tequila, etc.) counts for both offers.  Price per person: 1,000 baht each.  The Moon River Pub is located in front of the Thai Garden Resort, North Pattaya Road.
