A 26-year-old bar worker died after being stabbed during a late-night fight on a baht bus over a customer.

Rattana Champasri, 26, suffered stab wounds to her chest and stomach in the 2:30 a.m. attack July 3. Police quickly arrested Piyaporn Chinsiri, 27, who brought the injured woman to Pattaya Memorial Hospital covered in blood with the knife still in her hand.

Piyaporn reportedly told police the two had been working at the Hollywood disco and met a Japanese man in his mid-20s who had agreed to hire both of them for a short-time liaison. However, Piyaporn claimed that during the baht bus ride to the customer’s hotel Rattana tried to kick her out of the taxi. A fight ensued and, Piyaporn claimed, she used a knife in self defense.

Scared off, the Japanese customer fled the scene.

Piyaporn was taken into custody and charged with attempted murder.
