The wives of the Japanese and Australian
ambassadors to Thailand donated 330,000 baht to the Y.W.C.A.
Bangkok-Pattaya Center and helped kick off the charity’s
agricultural initiative that will see area schools grow more of
their own food.
Tami Kojima from Japan and Teresa Wise from
Australia presented their donation July 25 on behalf of the
Ambassadors’ Wives Club, which pledged to support another year of
Y.W.C.A. projects. They were welcomed by Y.W.C.A. Pattaya Chairwoman
Nittaya Patimasongkroh and Bangkok chapter head, Dharat Pitaksit.

scholarships to several students.
Following the presentation, the two dignitaries
joined Y.W.C.A. members from Bangkok and Pattaya at Pong Sa-Khet
School, where the group had funded a new fish farm and
mushroom-cultivation hut to boost the students’ menus. The school
also started a small-scale farming operation to raise plans and
chickens.
The Y.W.C.A. also used the occasion to present
scholarships to seven students before providing lunch for all.
Following the meal, the group ventured to the Redemptorist School
for the Blind, where Y.W.C.A. officials donated all the ingredients
needed for that facility to begin its own agricultural program.
