Chonburi boys and girls dressed up in Thai silk as
part of Chonburi’s celebration of HM the Queen’s 79th birthday.
Chonburi Red Cross Chairwoman Supranee Chatpaisit
emceed the Kids Thai Skill Dress Competition at Royal Hall Aug. 12.
Sponsored by the Cultural Council of Chonburi, the pageant was intended
to honor HM Queen Sirikit’s commitment to the Thai silk industry.
The contest was also meant to show that Thai silk
remains important to Thailand, both as an occupation that can keep
youths away from drugs, and support the fashion industry by crafting
fabric used in traditional into modern apparel.
