The Regent’s School Pattaya is hosting the ‘Picnic in the Park for Peace’ music event on Sunday September 18 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Father Ray Children’s Village, at Siam Country Club. The event commemorates the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy and promotes peace through bringing together communities through music. The event will be featuring performances from the Good Child Foundation, Regent’s Soul Band, Father Ray Children’s Choir and many, many more… There will also be a bouncy castle and a playground for children, fun painting and car track, peace lanterns, children’s sparklers and clowns and jugglers. The next meeting of Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) will be on Sunday, September 4. Everyone is warmly welcome. The guest speaker Jim Newport, author and musician, will be discussing his most recent book Vampire of Siam - The Siamese Connection and his Jimmy Fame - Wanted Man, a musical CD he completed in Phuket. The Club meets every Sunday morning at the Tavern by the Sea restaurant located on the north end of Beach Road (part of the Amari Orchid Resort). The program starts as usual at 10:30 am with a buffet breakfast available from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Each week the PCEC usually has an interesting speaker to talk on various subjects of interest in an informal setting. The program is followed by the ever lively and often humorous Open Forum where questions are asked and answers given about living in Pattaya as well as an update on events in and around Pattaya. For the past 28 years the Samaritans of Thailand have been providing confidential crisis intervention services over the telephone. The English-speaking unit, Samaritans English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community. English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone. Linda’s Restaurant can be all things for all people. Serving a wide selection of Norwegian dishes, there are also abundant European/international dishes, as well as a full line-up of Thai items. The food is excellent and the portion sizes tending to be on the large side, and the prices reasonable. The wine list is also inexpensive. This restaurant is definitely worth visiting.
