The Sattahip Naval Base sent boats, rescue equipment and troops to
assist flood-relief efforts in Ayutthaya.
Capt. Suphasit Boorna-oosoth, Navy Region 1 deputy director for civil
affairs, dispatched five frogmen from the Naval Special Warfare unit as
well as a two trucks, two rescue boats, two rubber Zodiac-style boats
and 100 tires to hard-hit Phranakhorn Sri Ayuthaya.
Vice Adm. Pongsak Phuriroj, likewise, assigned 18 men to deliver five
rubber boats and three trucks.
He said navy units around the country are responding to the floods,
believed to be the worst in as many as nine decades. Concerned citizens
