voted best in the Kingdom.

Pattaya has been voted the best place in Thailand to
count down to the New Year in a poll by the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
The city’s week-long “Pattaya Countdown 2012” beat out
New Year’s celebrations in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Khon Kaen in the
online survey open during the last two weeks of December. TAT officials said
both Thai and foreign tourists voted.
Three voters were chosen at random to win 2,000 baht
Central Department Store gift cards.
Pattaya garnered 60 percent of the votes with “The Best
Countdown in Bangkok 2012” receiving 19 percent of the votes. Chiang Mail
came in third with 12 percent while Phuket got only 2 percent and Khon Kaen
just 1 percent.
