CPDC opens two new boys homes

The Child Protection and Development Center opened two new homes for boys, allowing the Human Help Network Thailand shelter to care for up to 20 more orphans and street kids.

Human Help Network Thailand Director Radchada Chomjinda thanks the people responsible for funding the new homes.

HHN global Director Hans Mueller cut the ribbon on the new homes Jan. 28 with guests and sponsors from around the world in attendance.

Human Help Network Thailand Director Radchada Chomjinda thanked those responsible for funding the new homes, saying 15-20 more boys can now receive shelter, healthcare, education and attention.

“With 3 houses for the girls and from now on 5 houses for the boys we will be able to provide a safe shelter, education and healthcare for around 70 street children who are between 5 and 18 years old.”

She also tanked Mueller and other German sponsors for their continued support, noting that within just two years CPDC has been transformed from a collection of tents into the cluster of buildings that it is today. She said it is a secure environment where disadvantaged kids can regain their childhood and self esteem.

HHN global Director Hans Mueller praises the people here for all their hard work.

“What we do here for these kids would simply not be possible without the help all of you have given and we truly thank all of you most sincerely,” Radchada said.

She closed her remarks by announcing she would take over temporary directorship of CPDC after Parisorn Noja was appointed director of the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Abuse Project.

The opening ceremony was joined by CPDC children, some children from Baan Jing Jai and children from the slums, as well as by guests of honor, including the president of the Father Ray Foundation, president and representatives of the local Rotary Clubs, representatives of the United Nations Office of Drug and Crime, president of the French Club, and others. The festivities started at 10 a.m. with a traditional Thai dance presented by some girls at the centre.

The ceremony closed with dance performances from CPDC kids, followed by a great lunch including noodle soup, a rice dish, french-fries as well as fresh fruits and little coconut cakes.
