City officials are hoping to create a “Pattaya brand”
for hotels, restaurants and stores that meet world-class standards for
service and merchandise.
Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome and two university
management professors announced the “Good Sales, Good Food, Good Lives”
enterprise-development project Feb. 29 at Central Festival Pattaya
Beach. The goal, Itthiphol said, is to bring more revenue to the city
and its neighboring communities by raising the standard of
tourism-related businesses to meet the needs of international and local
commercial markets.
The first step in that project will be to survey
businesses, schools, residents and tourists and educate business owners
on how to better manage their enterprises and consistently provide
quality service. The pilot project will run through October.
King Mongkut University of Technology, Thonburi
professor of management and innovation, Thanyawat Chaitrakulchai, said
he has been working for four years on plans to raise the fortunes of
Pattaya businesses by providing good food and products. One goal, he
said, is to better target markets for tourists and overseas investment
in Pattaya to raise the “Pattaya brand” to world-class status and
improve Thailand’s financial standing in the world economy.
