Thai superstar Dome Pakornlum
spins some tunes.
Bali Hai Pier thumped to house, techno and hip-hop beats
for two nights as top Thai and international disc jockeys competed to see
who could spin and scratch the best in the second Zoom electronic music and
dance festival.
The March 30-31 street party attracted large crowds of
young Thais and foreigners to mixes by DJs on multiple stages. Among the
featured performers were Black-Eyed Peas’ scratcher “Taboo,” Local favorites
DJ Domination and DJ Ananc, Thai star Dome Pakornlum and DJ Rob Readman.
The event organized by the city, the Tourism Authority of
Thailand and the Department of Intellectual Property, had people dancing to
hip-hop, international pop, Asian pop, electronic and house music.
DJs pumped up the volume for the IP DJ Hunt contest with
the winner taking home 20,000 baht and a chance to copyright creations
through the DIP.
Security was tight for the event with police and
volunteers checking cars and motorbikes for drugs, weapons and any other
illegal items.
