Hoping to prevent drug abuse and accidents in the
workplace, the Chonburi Department of Labor Protection and Welfare has
launched a “white factory” program and is encouraging Pattaya businesses
to sign up.
The department, responsible for raising labor
standards to international levels, wants manufacturing and
service-industry companies to work to eliminate drug addiction among
employees and offer jobs to rehabilitated drug addicts.
In addition, the DLPW is urging businesses to better
mind safety and prevent accidents by complying with existing standards.
Department employee Suwanna Khantivisit said 91
companies joined the white-factory program last year with 88 of those
receiving certification in January from the Labor Department. She
emphasized that non-factories can join the young program and encouraged
Pattaya business owners to sign up.
Interested business owners can download an
application from labour.go.th through May 31 or call 038-311-305.
