Chonburi launches
mobile-services unit

program.
Chonburi officials have
launched a mobile-services program to make paying bills more convenient
and preventative health care more common.
Gov. Khomsan Ekachai kicked off the “Easing Suffering, Bringing
Happiness and Smiles to Citizens” project May 16. The “government on
wheels” concept has been run by local governments, such as Pattaya City
and Sattahip District, for years, but the province-level program is the
first under a new Interior Ministry program.
Officials said the mobile-services unit will allow residents to register
births, land and residences; pay utility and tax bills, receive state
stipends, get advice on legal and social-program issues, buy locally
made goods and get basic health services such as eye exams and
blood-pressure tests.
Khomsan said the government will target specific districts and
neighborhoods where such services are needed most. (CPRD)
