These children urgently need your help.
Hway Ka Loke boarding house in Mae Sot is facing a
very severe food shortage. Home to almost 10% of the estimated 3,000
unaccompanied children living on the northern Thailand/Burma border,
they along with other boarding houses have been advised that funding of
dry food items has come to an end. An immediate end.
Already on reduced rations, from 1st August they
will no longer receive rice, cooking oil, tin fish or ‘sweet
powder’. Yellow bean, a great source of inexpensive protein vital to
these communities, and salt, has not been supplied for some months
now.
Women With a Mission is providing funds for meat
and vegetables until November of this year, which is the first six
months of the school year. However, despite the fact it costs a mere
B320 per child, per month, to provide these most important dry food
items, WWM absolutely do not have the funding available to pick up
the required shortfall until the end of the school year in March
next year.
What we need is 266 families or individuals
willing to contribute B320 per month for the next eight months, or
one upfront contribution of B2,560 to help feed these children
through to the end of the school year. It’s not a lot when it’s
broken down - approximately ฃ52, USD80 or €66 to feed a child for
eight months. Can you help?
WWM do not use any funds donated for
administration or travel costs. Or for anything other than what
they’re nominated for. We pay our own way, always.
