Dr. Piyasvasti Amranand (seated 2nd left), president of
Thai Airways International (THAI), and Sunathee Isvarphornchai
(standing 7th left), THAI vice president of corporate communications, led a
team of key media from Thailand on a goodwill visit to Japan recently. THAI
aims to encourage tourists to travel to Japan to boost Japan’s long-term
economic growth after having been adversely affected by the earthquake and
tsunami last March. On hand to welcome the group were Toshiya Morishike
(seated 3rd left), director general of the Department of Transportation,
Ministry of Transport, Nahoka Furuta (seated 4th left), director general of
Tourism Promotion Department of Gifu City Hall and Mishihiro Kunichima
(seated left), mayor of Takayama City.

Yindee Thamarak and Yupadee Tripetsupan (2nd & 3rd left),
two kind hearted residents of Naklua, presented their personal savings of
20,000 baht to Deputy Mayor Verawat Khakhay to go towards purchasing
hospital beds for the new Pattaya City Hospital. The
presentation took place at their residence in Naklua recently. A group of
public health volunteers were on hand to witness the noble gesture.
Rungthip Suksrikarn, president of the Lions Club of
Pratamnak-Pattaya, Lion Nawarat Khakhay, Lion Somsakdi and Sunee Nakson
received certificates of appreciation from Montree Kanjanapakdi, director of
Pattaya School No. 3 (Wat Tham Samakhee) in gratitude for their kind
donation of 65,000 baht for the erection of a new flagpole to replace the
old one which had deteriorated. Attending the ceremonies were teachers and
members of the Lions Club.

Tony Hayms (2nd left) and his charming wife Ann (2nd
right) were guests of honour at the Pattaya International Hospital
recently. The couple are dear old friends of Dr. Sunya Viravaidya, CEO of
the PIH Group. “We have known Dr. Sunya since we were studying at the
University of Melbourne back in the 60’s.” Hayms is presently presiding
chairman of the Australian Reward Investment Alliance (ARIA). ARIA is the
trustee of the Commonwealth’s main civilian superannuation schemes which
combined have 480,000 members and $21 billion under management. They were
given a grand tour of the Pattaya International Hospital and were duly
impressed by the high standards of the services provided by the experienced
doctors and staff.

fastest growing destinations for tourism and commerce in Thailand.
International airlines are focusing a major portion of their marketing
strategies on this part of the country. In view to expanding and
strengthening their relationships with reputable travel agencies, Jyotibrata
Ghosh (2nd left), area manager - Thailand & Cambodia of Kingfisher
Airlines, along with Anchalee Somjaiwangse (3rd right), senior sales
executive; Gireesh Bhaskar (2nd right), area manager - Bangladesh & Nepal;
and Patipat Sawasdee (right), sales & marketing manager paid a courtesy
visit to Massic Travel, Pattaya and the Eastern Seaboard’s most
friendly and reputable travel agent. They were warmly welcomed by Vikrom
Malhotra (3rd left), GM of Massic Travel and Prince Malhotra (left), GM of
Pattaya Mail Media Group.
