The Rojnapanitkul family
is looking for help for Nattawat’s condition.

A Plutaluang woman has turned to the public for help after treatment for
her husband’s elephantiasis bankrupted their family.
Public-health volunteer Nattanant Rojnapanitkul, 57, brought her husband
Nattawat to meet the media May 17 in a bid for donations of cash and
medical treatment. The 57-year-old Nattawat has suffered from
elephantiasis since 2006 and has a 32cm mass in his right leg.
When the disease struck, Nattawat said, he was working for a Sattahip
shipping company and serving as his family’s bread winner. He was forced
to quit, however, and has been receiving treatment in Bangkok, but the
condition has not improved.
Treatment, however, has been expensive and he also is suffering from
cataracts, osteoarthritis and hepatitis B.
Nattanant herself suffers from a thyroid condition, but has worked as
much as she can to pay the bills. Eventually, however, her expenses
outstripped income and the only way she can keep her husband of 34 years
alive is by asking for help from the public.
