‘Chance’ key to Young Pattaya Ambassador’s success
Pawinee Kaewkert
It wasn’t only his dancing talent that brought Tanakorn Sunthornnon,
the 1st runner-up of Young Pattaya Public Relations Ambassador Training and
Contest Project, to the famous TV program Dance Your Fat Off stage. One more
important thing, the 18-year-old Pattaya native said, was “a chance.”

Tanakorn ‘Boss’ Sunthornnon.
“YPPA is a project that gives young generations a chance
to attend the training, to learn useful skills and knowledge, and most
importantly, the project provides us a stage to show our talents,” he said
in an interview with the Pattaya Mail.
“From three-years experience attending this annual project, I have learned a
lot of things. It was not easy to be the winner of the project as I didn’t
pass through to the contest section in 2008, but the training section was
impressive enough to make me and my friends to work harder and come back
again in 2010 when we got the 1st runner-up award and in 2011 when I won
Best Talent figure. After that, I have had chances to work with the city and
many organizations and have gained experiences and skills bit by bit.”

Nong Boss gave an impressive
performance for Dance Your Fat Off.
Tanakorn, or Nong Boss, called on Pattaya Mail Publishing
Co., Ltd. May 21 to express his gratitude towards the project that has been
a key part in making him successful as he is today and pass on his
experiences to the young generation. In interviews, the young star said that
he would never be who he is today if he hadn’t had a chance to participate
in the YPPA project where he was trained very well.

Tanakorn Sunthornnon
expresses his gratitude towards the YPPA project in an interview with the
Pattaya Mail.
“I have to thank the YPPA organizers, Pattaya City and
people related who have arranged such a meaningful project for children.
Having been a part of the project, I have been more confident and have
experienced English language skills, speaking skills, acting and also
dancing skills, personality development, and many other skills and knowledge
that really help me in my real life situation, and pave the way for my
brighter and better future. Importantly, I have always gotten support from
our so-called ‘YPPA Family’ even when I was in the dancing contest.”

Nong Boss, who now is known as a young dancing star, for
he recently was one of 12 finalists in Thailand’s new society-shaking
dancing contest for ‘big-sized people’ on Thai Channel 3, said he entered
the contest for his mom, also his role model, and never believed that a fat
boy with such a passion for dancing would be able to stand on a big stage
with thousands of people watching.
“The contest has also changed my life. I lost about 20 kilograms in the
competition and now I’m so happy that I’m slimmer than before… I now have a
chance to work in the entertainment business.”

Nong Boss attended the Young
Pattaya PR Ambassador training project at City Hall in 2008.
Nong Boss is just one of the city’s young generation
whose lives have been changed for the better after being given a chance. As
it is said, ‘a child is a nation’s future’, projects or campaigns that give
children chances to show what they’ve got and support them in appropriate
ways as well as raise awareness of children’s importance among adults are
crucial.
“I want to tell young generations that if you have a dream to do whatever
you love, like dancing, singing or anything else, just do it, just go for
it, so you’ll not regret later that you didn’t do it,” he said. “I believe
there are many stages in Thailand or even in our city now that give children
big chances and meaningful experiences like YPPA. Its project 8 is now open
for the new generation and you can find out more information at www.facebook
.com/YoungPattayaPR … it might be the last year of the project. Don’t lose a
chance. For chubby people, always open your eyes and ears for it might be
the second season of ‘Dance Your Fat Off - dance to change your life.”

ISC students dress up for Book Character Day
Ek Nutchaya
Students at the International School of Chonburi transformed themselves into
book characters one day during their recent Book Week. Pinocchio was telling
lies, Bob the Builder fixed the school, pirates ran amok, there was a cow
jumping over the moon, a little pig was running away from the wolf, Dr de Soto
was fixing teeth, Polly Pink Pajamas came to sleep and so many more.

This little pig is running away from
the wolf.
It was a wonderfully colourful celebration of books at the end of a week filled
with book activities. At 9:15 each morning everyone in the school dropped
everything that they were doing and went into classrooms to read. There was a
school wide extreme reading contest. Bruno read hanging upside down from a tree!
Anastasia dressed up in winter clothes and read in the fridge!
Book Week is a chance to extend the way we use and value books school wide and
ISC students leaped, ran, flew, roared, danced and barked their way into it.

PSC and Ray Dell combine forces at Banglamung Boys Home
![](pictures/k4-PSC1.jpg)
It is hot work on a Bouncy Castle.
William Macey
It was Noel Coward, some of you will remember him, that wrote ‘mad dogs
and Englishmen go out in the midday sun’ for that is exactly what Ray Dell, a
regular supporter of the centre, Nigel Cannon and myself did recently. It was
close to 38 degrees and the humidity was in the 90s, the sort of weather that
will soak a man to the skin, and we were watching boys from the Banglamung Boys
Home have a great time on a bouncy castle and, seemingly, oblivious to the heat.
Being much older and wiser, we escaped to a cooler area but even the children
had to rest and to receive some refreshments before attacking the castle once
again.
![](pictures/k4-PSC2.jpg)
They also have to be very strong.
This was not the reason that we were there but to meet the new superintendant
who wanted to develop an education room based on education videos, computers and
a library. Pattaya Sports Club joined forces with Ray to buy the necessary
equipment like tables, chairs, storage cupboards and a big screen. At the moment
the computers are being used for more leisurely pursuits until the room is up
and running.
There are many children in Thailand born into poor, broken homes who, very
simply, do not have the income to cope. Many parents have died and the children
move in with a relative and their family, putting more financial pressure on
everyone.
Banglamung Boys Home was established in 1956 to accept boys between the ages of
7 and 18 who were in need of care and protection. Orphaned, abused, abandoned or
do not have families that can take care of them, the home’s aim is to provide
shelter, food, clothing, medical care and treatment when necessary. The children
attend local schools but additional education is provided, hence the reason for
the education room, to help prepare them for employment or to arrange for
alternative placement after discharge. They now have a family, friends and a
future,
If you feel you can help in any way, please give me a ring on 0861522754.
![](pictures/k4-PSC3.jpg)
Even young boys need a rest.
![](pictures/k4-PSC4.jpg)
I needed this.
