Two Chumphon women were injured when their pickup truck was hit by a
train in Pattaya.
Niramol Khaosuwan, 49, Prangthip Prathumma, 23, surprisingly received only minor
injuries in the Aug. 25 accident at the rail crossing in Nongsadao. The tourist
train from Bangkok to Yansangworaramworn Mahawiharn Temple overturned their
Mitsubishi truck and pushed it 50 meters down the tracks.
Niramol told police she was driving to her daughter’s house when she approached
the rail crossing. Warning lights were flashing, but the grade crossing had no
barrier gate, so she assumed it was safe to cross.
Train engineer said the truck pulled out in front of the charter train too
quickly for him to stop.
