Police try to communicate
with the Vietnamese fisherman after giving him some rice to eat.

A Vietnamese man illegally in Thailand was pulled from Rayong Bay, pale
and hungry, but otherwise unhurt.
The unidentified man was rescued by a crab-fishing boat Oct. 12 and then
dropped at the IRPC Co. pier in Rayong. Employee Wijit Saengmekh, 58,
gave the man clothes, food and water, then called police. Officers could
not communicate, however, and he was turned over to the Immigration
Department.
The rescued man told an interpreter that he’d entered Thailand illegally
to work for a pier-repair company. He didn’t elaborate on why he was
found swimming so far from shore.
