Pattaya has added 31 new employees to its Peace and Stability
Maintenance Department in hopes of resolving a long-running staff shortage.
The new hires began training Feb. 3 for eventual assignment to the
municipal, special activities, land-disaster prevention, and sea-disaster
prevention divisions.
The training consisted of an orientation to prepare employees before
performing their duties. The training was divided into two phases consisting
of theory and practical examinations, including general and legal knowledge.
Theoretical work covered the origins of fires, prevention and
extinguishment. Training also covered fire equipment, lines, high-rise
rescues and inspection of beaches and the ocean, including rescue.
“Currently, the Peace and Stability Maintenance Department is facing a
shortage of human resources,” Maj. Col. Jeerawat Sukhonthazup of the
municipal division said. “We organized a training for all new employees to
interact with one another to increase efficiency when they have to work
together in the future. Simultaneously, the employees will learn of duties
of three other departments, which I believe is an advantage since it will
allow better coordination.”
