Pattaya School No. 5 has been chosen as one of the Eastern
Seaboard’s 12 healthiest schools with a chance to win the Best in Health
national title.
Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome and school Principal Montree Kanjanaphak
welcomed Ministry of Health’s Health Promotion Director Dr. Danai
Theewanda and administrators from other eastern schools to the campus
for their inspection Feb. 6.
The visitors were greeted with a stage performance from students, songs
from the marching band and an aerobics display from athletics students.
School No. 5 won the provincial Best in Health designation in July,
marking the fourth time since 2008 it has earned honors for its
health-promotion efforts. Now at the “diamond level” the school is being
evaluated to compete for national honors.
“I believe in the importance of students’ health development, therefore,
I have been determined to promote and develop students’ health through
projects where students had leadership responsibility leading to many
activities,” Montree said. “The projects have received sponsorship from
public and private organizations, resulting in students having good
health plus a healthy mind.”
“The Ministry of Health has promoted good health according to the Best
in Health School guidelines since 1998, receiving cooperation from
Ministry of Education’s schools, Pattaya City, and the Ministry of
Interior,” Danai explained. “The final evaluation’s results will be
announced at the end of the year.”
