As is always the case for nearly every Buddhist holiday, Pattaya’s bars
and nightspots will be closed for Visakha Bucha Day.
From Walking Street to Drinking Street, Third Road to Soi 6, the neon
will be dimmed, music hushed and beer taps turned off. Even convenience
stores will tell tourists that their holiday will be dry May 3.
Chonburi Police Chief Pol. Maj. Gen. Khatcha Thatsart said police will
fine violators up to 10,000 baht for violating the ban, which runs from
midnight May 13 through midnight May 14.
