the June 18-24 crime sweep.
More than 1,100 police, military personnel and
volunteers hit the streets in Chonburi to stamp out crime and ensure
safety for tourists.
Assistant Commissioner General Lt. Gen. Chaiyong Keeratikajorn
dispatched the 1,143 officers June 18 in Chonburi for the June 18-24
crime sweep.
Chaiyong said Chonburi is regarded as an important tourist town visited
by many tourists both Thai and foreign. It also has attracted many
criminals who target tourists.
Therefore, he said, the National Council for Peace and Order is moving
to provide safety for the public and suppress crime in tourist areas.
