Nursery school teachers and assistants were given lessons in preventing
contagious diseases in children at a Pattaya workshop.
Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome presided over the June 17 seminar where he
demonstrated proper hand-washing techniques.
Seminar organizers stressed that childhood is a critical age as children
are developing biologically, psychologically and emotionally. They also
have very weak immune systems, making it easy for contagious diseases to
spread in schools and daycare centers.
Common ailments include diarrhea, mumps, chickenpox and measles, they
said. Without proper care and early treatment, the diseases could become
critical and develop potentially fatal complications.
They said it also causes trouble and expense for parents. Therefore
effective disease prevention and control is needed to reduce health
risks in children.
