Beauties on the red carpet.
Bronwyn Carey
Wow what a night. The Red Carpet Event 2014 was all glamour, from start
to finish. The committee worked hard to achieve a smoothly run event that had
guests digging deep in to their pockets between dancing, to amaze even
themselves at the success of the funds raised for Women With a Mission. The
raffle prizes and silent auction items were outstanding, so much so that the
night raised a fabulous 888,000 baht.
Committee members Bea Grunwell and Jess Thakker introduced the night, thanked
their workers Beatrice Walker, Michelle Brinker, Eguonor Brubaker, Caroline
McMaster and Sharon Johnson, and presented flowers to the Women With a Mission
team, Kylie Grimmer, Rosanne Diamente and Bronwyn Carey. Sarah Ball was the MC
for the night, and performed the task with grace and elegance befitting the
event.
The hot band Power Jam followed fabulous entertainment, commencing with a young
team of lively dancers from the Russian Ballet School Roskinka, and the
beautiful sexy Brazilian Ramona Neaga. DJ Henry Knowles filled in the gaps for
some great music.
The diamond ring lucky door prize went to Samantha Lewis, and Oscar for the best
dressed female was awarded to Janice Le Touzo, looking stunning in a white
fitted dress with diamond accessories. Duane Bishop, looking fabulous in white
jacket, black pants and black and white shoes took the Oscar for the
best-dressed male, and Mr and Mrs Schelageter for best dressed couple. The 3 WWM
girls received the Oscar for Philanthropy.
Some of the silent auction items that attracted attention included Cartoon
Networks Family pass to the Water Park, Dive package from Mermaid Dive Centre,
passes to Flight of the Gibbons, a wellness package including BPH voucher,
Rasayana Resort voucher, 3 stunning original art pieces from Ingrid Van der
Heyden, .59 Ct diamond broach donated by Ivy Schelageter, and many hotel
vouchers from top resorts including Anantara, Rembrandt, and Holiday Inn.
Rosanne, Kylie and Bronwyn certainly had a great celebration, and Kylie
reflected on the past years, on the sadness that greeted them when they first
started working post 2004 tsunami that devastated the western shores of
Thailand, and the inspiration gained from the young scholarship students who are
working so hard to achieve good school results. Rosanne thanked the wonderful
volunteers who have sustained WWM and enabled them to continue their projects
through skilled assistance with the young people with disabilities, manning
stalls for fundraising, and taking time to visit the projects on the Burmese
border. A final thank you to the corporate sponsors who supported the night,
Caterpillar Thailand, Albatross Logistics, Titan VNS, Inergy, GAC, Hemaraj, and
CEA, along with the media Pattaya Golfer, Inspire e-magazine, Pattaya Mail media
group, and Action Pictures who assisted with photography on the night.
