Massic Travel celebrates 30 years in the industry
Marlowe Malhotra celebrated his family’s 30 years in
the travel industry with a religious ceremony to bless the new premises on
Pattaya 2nd Road (near the Grand Sole Hotel). Being a family business,
Massic Travel has been attending to the travel needs of the local expat
community all year round for all those years, not relying on the “high
season” tourist travel market and then running skeleton staffing and
consequently poorer service during the low season. The company can attend to
all travel needs and specializes in air tickets worldwide, hotel bookings,
tour packages and excursions. However, if you need advice, “Then just give
us a call,” says Marlowe. “We will surely be able to help you out.”
Reverend
Acharaya Karn (background) anointed Massic Travel’s signboard, the blessed
Team Massic to celebrate Massic’s 30 years in business.
Massic Travel, known as the Eastern Seaboard’s
friendliest agency, is looking forward to giving another 30 years of service
to the local travelers. “My family is here to help you and your family,”
said the irrepressible Marlowe. “We have learned a lot in 30 years and can
pass that information on to our customers.”
The religious blessing was carried out by the Reverend Abbot, Acharaya
Karn of Wat Huey Yai near Pattaya.
Central Festival Center rocks during Sunshine Radio 107.75 FM music contest
Local amateur bands vie for trophies and scholarships
Central Festival Center Pattaya was rocking late last
month when the Center joined with Sunshine Radio 107.75 FM to organize a
music contest.
Large crowds were treated to 2-days of “star
searching” as local bands cranked out the tunes, vying for trophies and
scholarships. The field was narrowed to 10 bands, all of which received
various prizes. Sunshine Radio 107.75 FM broadcast the contest live.
Booths were set up to sell audio cassettes and CDs, plus
souvenirs from famous bands like Kai-Jo Brothers, Liberty, and Little Birds.
Boonkerd Wiwattanadecha, chairman of V.C. Sport Pattaya
said, “The event greatly fulfilled the organizing committee’s
objectives, as it gave new stars opportunities to shine and be creative, and
brought Sunshine Radio fans together for a stronger and closer
relationship.”
Many honored guests attended the opening ceremony on July 27, led by the
Mayor Pairat Suttithamrongsawat, Boonkerd Wiwattanadecha, chairman of V.C.
Sport Production, and Thanasombat Sanitwong na Ayuthaya, general manager of
Central Festival Center Pattaya.

Members of Rotary Club of Taksin-Pattaya recently visited
the Chonburi Observation and Protection Center, which houses 420 inmates,
all having been admitted for various crimes ranging from theft, drug abuse,
attempted rape and prostitution. Thirty of the inmates are female while the
rest are young male offenders. Most are from Bangkok and Pattaya. None are
older than 18 years while the youngest is 12 years.

of club services, Ingo G. Rauber, president, Peter Thorand, immediate past
president, Gary T. Bruton, secretary, and Sopin Thappajug, associate judge
at the Chonburi Juvenile and Family Court (standing 2nd right).
Dietrich H. Sarx, a hotel guest at the Dusit Resort
Pattaya and generous supporter of the Rotary Taksin-Pattaya Club, donated
polo shirts, t-shirts, caps, medicine, dental care equipment, marmalade, jam
and money to the center. This fine gesture was greatly appreciated.
Immediate past president of the Rotary Club of Jomtien-Pattaya, Alvi
Sinthuvanik and club members also generated 7,000 baht to provide a special
luncheon for all 430 inmates.
Originally established for only 200 inmates, the
institution is now occupied by more than double the capacity for which it
was planned. However, the budget set aside by the province to maintain the
building and to provide food for the occupants has remained based on the
original figures.
Support from other institutions and charity groups is
therefore necessary to continue to sustain the center on an on-going basis.
Community service groups find themselves in a
never-ending search for supporters of this fine project.
Those who are interested in this project can obtain further information
by contacting Ingo G. Rauber, Dusit Resort Pattaya, Tel. 0 3842 5611-7.
