Asian and western people alike for its wonderfully pungent taste and
flavour. Participants included Gal Sone herself and Sumiko Nishioka, the
campaign talent for the Japanese market of Thai Airways International.
The culinary competition was shot at the terrace of The Bay, the hotel’s

Another step forward for Pattaya, was the opinion of Pattaya City
Mayor Itthipol Khunplome at the opening of the new GI and Liver Center in the
Bangkok Hospital Pattaya.
Prior to his cutting the ceremonial ribbon, the guests were welcomed by Dr.
Pichit Kangwolkij, the director of the hospital, who said he was proud of the
fact that so many of the residents have placed their faith and trust in the
hospital. The audience was also welcomed by Associate Professor Varocha
Mahachai, the director of the new Center, along with her colleagues Dr. Thitima
Vatanakul and Dr. Jaruvan Jantaraprapaiwan.
With the latest diagnostic and screening equipment at their disposal, the
Gastroenterologists at the Bangkok Hospital Pattaya believe that the ability to
discover cancer at an early stage will do much to improve the general health of
the people in Pattaya. For people over 50 years of age, a colonoscopy as a
screening procedure is recommended, particularly if there is any family history
of bowel cancer, or any symptoms which could be caused by neoplasms in the
colon.
Following the cutting of the ribbon, the guests were taken on a tour of the new
facility and the various types of endoscopies were explained.

Rotary Club.
Dr.
Moreton (left) and Dr. Iain (right) discussing their prostates.
Dr. Michael Moreton from BMC spoke to the club members on prostate cancer, with
an amusing and informative lecture on the subject. He also suggested that the
digital rectal examination for males was nothing compared to the problems women
have in female cancer checking, with pap smears and mammograms.
The Bangkok Hospital Pattaya’s International Marketing team was on hand, with
Dr. Iain there to back up Dr. Moreton and emphasize the concept of preventive
health maintenance in this male area.
Bangkok Hospital Pattaya also provided some free health checks for the Rotary
members, with Sister Tida recording blood pressures (and hopefully not sending
them up)!
