re-elected.

A slate of candidates from the Naklua Conservation
Group upset pro-development hopefuls in Nongprue’s district elections.
Six candidates from the Nongprue Conservation Group
beat out rivals from the Nongprue Development Group for Area 3 council
seats in the lightly attended Jan. 11 poll. Voter turnout in the area
was less than 27 percent.
The win in Area 3 gave the Nongprue Conservation
Group a clean sweep of the district elections with leaders also
re-electing faction leader Mai Chaiyanit as mayor. He defeated
independent mayoral candidate Paisan Phokam 8,883 to 3,803 votes.
Unofficial results had council members in Area 1 as
Man Intharapitak (1,731 votes), Wichan Biaklai (1,645 votes), Somchai
Chimviset (1,642 votes), Yongyut Charoenrat (1,556 votes), Surasit
Ratchasee (1,610 votes) and Wichai Luangmuang (1,545 votes).
Man thanked Nongprue residents for their trust and
promised to continue his work on development plans keeping conservation
in mind. Voter turnout in the area was 41 percent.
In Area 2, winners were Preecha Wongsirivimol (2,176
votes), Sa-nga Yuthanava (2,050 votes), Somsak Jaedaman (1,959 votes),
Sanor Sroisakul (1,898 votes) and Wirat Patana-ngam (1,808 votes). Voter
turnout was about 38 percent.
Area 3 winners were Narong Pollook-in (2,133 votes),
Prayuth Panprasong (2,044 votes), Bancha Iangsoon (1,817 votes), Lamai
Wattanaombat (1,766 votes), Sayan Chanthong (2,029 votes), and Wanchai
Saen-ngam.
Wanchai thanked residents for choosing his group over
the rival Development Group candidates and promised to listen to voters
and gain their trust..
