Hoping to convince European travelers that Thailand
is once again a peaceful and safe place, Tourism Authority of Thailand
officials from Germany brought the finalists in the Miss Slovakia beauty
pageant to Pattaya.
Somchai Chaicharoensin, senior marketing manager for
TAT Frankfurt and Eastern Europe’s Eso Travel sponsored the visit that
saw the ten contestants photographed and filmed enjoying the Thai
beaches and weather, as well as during a visit to Nong Nooch Tropical
Garden.
Somchai said his German office had tried a number of
things to rekindle interest in Thailand among European tourists. The
Miss Slovakia tour, he said, would be very well covered, as the pageant
and its contestants are very popular and followed closely in the
European media. Photos of them enjoying Pattaya, he maintained, would go
a long way into restoring the trust of European travelers.
