It’s only a month away…

Songkran is only a month away and Pattaya officials
have begun making preparations for official activities that don’t
involve drenching everyone in sight with dirty, freezing-cold water.
Deputy Mayor Wattana Chantanawaranon and Banglamung
Police Crime Suppression chief Maj. Thapana Klosuwan chaired the March 1
planning meeting at the Banglamung Station.
Among the government-sponsored activities will be an
April 19 alms offering to monks at Chaimongkol Temple, flower and Buddha
parade from the temple to Central Road and back, and a Thai cultural
show.
On April 18, Naklua will celebrate the wan lai
festival at Lan Pho Public Park. The less manic Kong Kao ceremony will
be April 20 at Nongyai Temple. There will also be entertainment,
cultural shows, a Miss Songkran pageant, Buddha parade and, of course,
lots and lots of water throwing.
