The Pattaya area still has more than enough water for
the summer months, city waterworks officials say.
Suwit Sangkhae, chief of water-supply production at
the Provincial Waterworks Authority, told the Pattaya Business & Tourism
Association March 4 that four filtration stations at the Mabprachan,
Banglamung, Saknok and Nong Klangdong reservoirs have a combined
capacity of 192,000 cu. meters a day. Pattaya uses only 151,000 cu.
meters a day on average, he said.
He noted the Mabprachan Reservoir still has 9.9
million cu. meters of water and the Saknok reservoir 4.7 million cu.
meters. That is enough to last a year, he said.
However, should a shortage develop, the city ca n
draw upon reserves from the Eastern Water Management and Development Co.
Ltd.
While some people may still experience periodic
shortages of water, Suwit said they are caused by pipe damage and
repairs, not by drought.
