Brazen motorbike taxi drivers beat three Russian tourists
just meters away from Pattaya Police Station.
Police from the Pattaya Police Station ran next door to
Central Festival Pattaya Beach to break up the fight between 10 drivers and
the two male and one female Russian. A couple hardcore bike jockeys
persisted, hitting them with rubber traffic cones.
Witnesses said the dispute started after the Russians
were quoted an extortionate price for a taxi ride and tried to flag down a
10-baht songthaew instead. Having lost face, the taxi drivers were said to
have gotten angry, resulting in an altercation with the tourists.
