Police seek Laotian man for allegedly strangling estranged wife

Theerarak Suthathiwong

Police are seeking a Laotian man who allegedly tried to strangle his estranged wife after she refused to reconcile.

Bang-orn Chanuwong, 38, was placed into intensive care at Banglamung Hospital after a 31-year-old Laotian identified only as “Khammuang” allegedly cut off her air supply with a nylon rope for several minutes. She was later transferred to Chonburi Hospital.

The attack occurred March 8 at Naklua’s Amorn Market where Bang-orn was delivering ice for her employer, Pa Piku Ice Making at the Naklua Market. Witnesses reported that Khammuang showed up at Amorn and appealed to her to reconcile for the sake of their 1-year-old child.

When Bang-orn refused, witnesses said Khammuang got angry, grabbed the rope and strangled her. One of the witnesses came to her aid and called authorities while Khammuang fled.
