Guests
are welcomed to the Royal Cliff’s Songkran Dinner by the traditional ritual
of Rod Nam Dam Hua.
The Songkran Festival is the most striking of all the
celebrations in Thailand, as it is widely observed not only in this country
but also in Burma, Cambodia and Laos. Known as the Thai Traditional New
Year, it is a great opportunity for merit-making through “Rod Nam Dam Hua” -
pouring scented water over elders’ hands and Buddha images - and is also a
special time for Thai people to have fun with traditional music, dance,
games, and of course splashing water in the streets.
In the true ‘exclusivity and fascination’ spirit, the
Royal Cliff Hotels Group made a splash of their own Wednesday 13th April
with its Songkran Festive Dinner held poolside at the Royal Cliff Beach
Hotel.
Guests and local residents were taken on a journey
through time as they welcomed the Thai New Year. The evening featured a
buffet of traditional Thai specialties and international favorites alongside
Thai folk dance performances and of course the Royal Cliff Miss Songkran
pageant.
The event included “Rod Nam Dam Hua”, the traditional Rum
Wong, a typical Thai dance to celebrate the Songkran, fruit carving and
garland making demonstrations where guests were able to roam freely and
experience true Thai traditions.
