Naklua ‘wan lai’ patrolled by 109 Banglamung police

Banglamung police sent over 100 officers out into the mayhem April 18 to serve and protect during Songkran water play in Naklua.

Banglamung police were out in force in Naklua when that neighborhood celebrated the finale of week-long Songkran festivities with the official “wan lai,” or water playing, day.

More than 100 soggy officers patrolled Naklua Road April 18, keeping a wary eye out for illegal alcohol vendors and troublemakers carrying real guns, instead of the water-shooting kind.

The event was well attended with no major incidents reported. However, efforts to control alcohol sales were only partially successful, as numerous unauthorized vendors were still seen selling booze from street stalls.

Cops also worked to prevent people from getting into fights over the intense water play and tested drivers for alcohol use to prevent road accidents.
