Officials stretch out one of two large
pythons caught ravishing chicken coops in Sattahip.

The hot weather is here and, with it, so are big
snakes, with officials in Sattahip called to take away two giant
pythons.
Both the May 18 incidents pitted hungry reptiles vs. chickens, with the
birds definitely losing out.
The first 5-meter-long python crawled into the yard of a Najomtien
Sub-district police officer where it was caught squeezing the life out
of one of Sgt. Maj. Arthawut Silapee’s fighting cocks.
The 36-year-old officer told Sawang Rojanathammasathan Foundation animal
rescue officials that several of his birds had come up missing lately.
He heard a noise in the chicken coop and thought thieves were again
stealing his birds.
He was surprised to find the thief had no legs, but moved plenty
quickly. It took rescuers about 20 minutes to round up the reptile and
take it away to Kao Laem Poo Chao near Prince Chumphon Camp.
Rescuers had no sooner freed the python when they got another call about
a ravenous reptile was stalking a chicken coop near Soi Sattahip
Sukhumvit 27.
This 4-meter-long python got caught in Prathuang Kralin’s coop after
swallowing a hen whole, making it too fat to get out the door.
Prathuang, whose house is located near the jungle, said snakes are a
common problem, as he keeps about 20 tasty birds on hand at any one
time.
