About 200 elderly Pattaya residents were given free
checkups June 14 as part of a joint health-maintenance program with Queen
Sirikit Hospital in Sattahip.
Doctors from the naval medical center performed tests for
proper liver and kidney functions, blood-sugar and fat levels, and offered
eye exams.
Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome, who opened the event, said the health checks
were part of a city program to keep the city’s older residents healthy, as
they are four times more likely than younger groups to fall ill. The program
is funded by a city budget aimed at improving the quality of life for
seniors, he said.
